Remember When...

It wasn't too long ago that we were in the midst of a financial crisis that seemed to overwhelm the daily news.  I suppose you could say that much hasn't changed as home values are low, unemployment is high, cost of many of our goods has risen, and so on.  It seemed like many auto makers were ready to fold, and some did.  You may recall that Ford was the lone auto manufacturer who declined a shot at government bail out funds while their competors were grasping at the lifeline offered by the taxpayers.  Ford is an interesting study in how a major company deals with management issues, workplace issues, unions, and innovation.  Read through this summary of Ford Motor Company and see how impressive it is that they were able to adjust to the new realities of business just a few years ago.
